In their defence, however, I can download the drivers from their sites at speeds of between 150-200KB/Sec at times, so I suspect it depends on the time of day that you choose to download and what the traffic is at that particular time. I have 2M+ broadband, but even with a 56K dial-up connection (which I don't have) I would consider this speed to be pathetic to say the least. I have had download speeds from these sites of under 4KB/Sec before now, but I haven't had the error message about IE7 timing out because I don't allow it to complete the download at this speed. The only thing that I can suggest is that you keep trying and that you try all 3 alternative download sites. Thinking about it, it probably isn't their fault either, rather their mirror download sites don't have enough bandwidth capacity for the workload that is placed on them. I too have come across poor download speeds from the Realtek site and have actually sent them a message about this, although nothing seems to have come of it. Unfortunately that is a problem which cannot be addressed in these forums.

Perhaps someone who has experience of setting up a multi-speaker arrangement might be able to assist you with this matter, in particular what settings to use and how to configure them. I understand from your post that you are using a 5.1 speaker setup, but unfortunately I only have stereo monitor speakers on my system at this moment in time (I also have the Realtek AC'97 audio solution on my computer). When the driver has installed, you will need to restart your machine. Note that you will probably have to provide administrative credentials at this point in order to continue. Click this file and follow the instructions. Note that there are other files called 'setup' - you are looking for the application file.

To install the driver, open this folder and browse for 'setup.exe'. Save this folder to removeable media such as a USB flash drive.
